MA Thesis Book2020
Private Geography is the thesis book created during the final year of MA Information Design.
It started with the question: How have the locals benefitted from the privatisation of the port of Piraeus?
A collection of data, historical facts and questions that dives into how economic change is discussed in the public sphere. Considering not only the mapping of the area but also the news as a visual design, one with a curated story, images and text, the book examines how the perception of this place is formed for the non expert audiences, that rely on specific forms of representation to maintain an image of the place.
It analyzes what appears to be the situation, while investigates gaps in the official narrative through interviews with experts, and finally calls for an information design approach that values lived experiences and questions selective data presentations.
